Feel Better!

My yoga classes are very gentle and therapeutic for everyone and for every BODY!

I am very proud to be a Yoga Therapist certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists and a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500).*  I am a graduate of the first class of the Master of Science program in Yoga Therapy at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). This is the first program of its kind in the United States. It is exciting to be a part of such an important and growing field.

Proudly, as a crucial part of my yoga therapy training, I am also a certified Body Balance Yoga® teacher. Body Balance Yoga® is a style of yoga therapy appropriate for people of all abilities developed by my dear friend, mentor, and teacher, Jenny Otto. Jenny is a nationally known yoga teacher trainer and KMI Structural Integrator. Additionally, I am proud to be a certified Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga ™ teacher (LVCYT). Lakshmi, another dear friend, teacher, and mentor, is a pioneer in bringing the mat up to the student.

I have further training by Nischala Joy Devi in Yoga of the Heart® (which is geared toward heart and cancer patients), and by Jacci Reynolds in Pranakriya Prenatal Yoga. I have also trained with Karen O’Donnell Clarke to be a practitioner of Yoga Heals Us, Adaptive Yoga for People with Multiple Sclerosis. Whenever I practice and teach yoga, I integrate these other styles of therapeutically oriented yoga into my teaching. I am grateful beyond words to have been a student of these wonderful, exceptional, and renowned teachers.

With my Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health, also from MUIH, I am able to integrate nutrition education into my yoga teaching. The fields of yoga therapy and nutrition education are great complements to each other.

With more than 35 years in education, including most recently, teaching 11 years at Loyola University Maryland, I bring my teaching experience to my yoga classes. I teach group classes, workshops, and privately at the Yoga Center of Columbia in Columbia, Maryland and, proudly, along with Jenny Otto, at Ridgely Retreat in Annapolis, Maryland. In whatever class I teach, my students learn how to incorporate yoga into everyday life.

Please note that I am not a medical professional nor qualified to diagnose and treat. I can only pass along my knowledge of therapeutic yoga and nutrition to others. I truly believe that anyone can do yoga and benefit from the never-ending possibilities that it offers.
